WELCOME TO WHISKEY TANGO FARMS!

We are a small Christian family of 4 from Central Wisconsin.

Whiskey Tango Farms is a small-scale family owned and operated suburban farm in Central, WI run by husband and wife team, Brandon and Kristin Kugel. We strive to educate and inspire others to be more self sufficient, no matter their setting or situation.

A LITTLE ON OUR HISTORY & BACKSTORY

Although we did not grow up on farms ourselves, our family does have farming roots! Brandon’s grandparents were potato farmers and also kept chickens and rabbits for a protein source. Kristin’s grandparents farmed just about everything under the sun but were most well-known for their strawberry farm located in Waushara County, WI: Strawberry Acres. Even though the farming bug skipped our parents, we still grew up learning many skills and activities that come with country living and farming ancestry that are utilized here at WTF including gardening, animal husbandry, and food preservation. We believe that we are responsible for being good stewards of the land and its creatures in every way possible, ensuring that all things are appreciated and have a purpose. All animals are treated with an endless amount of love and respect. Other homesteaders or farmers might consider that being “too soft” but we feel this is our purpose to fulfill and thoroughly enjoy what we do. It is not always easy to do what we do, but it does make our hearts happy!

When we purchased our property, it had very few trees or gardens. Since moving here, we are constantly adding decorative and shade trees, fruit-bearing trees and shrubs, as well as multiple gardens and a single large plot with a “field” layout. We aim to keep things as natural as possible and work incredibly hard to use organic solutions for pests and fertilization. We consistently make amendments to our soil with the goal of building a healthier eco-system on our property where all living things may flourish. In our gardens you will find many vegetables, fruits, and flowers as well as medicinal and culinary herbs!

OUR ANIMALS & VISION FOR THEIR PRESERVATION

We currently specialize in both feather sexable and jumbo Coturnix quail as well as celadon egg layers. In our covey, we breed with the utmost care for calm temperament as well as stock that is hardy, healthy and productive. We focus on helping folks get started with quail-keeping and assisting those whom are interested in producing meat and eggs for self-sufficiency, hobby or pets. We also offer feeder quail locally for reptiles and raptors on occasion as availability allows.

Whiskey Tango Farms is blessed to raise and breed Silver Fox and Creme d’Argent rabbits. We passionately breed towards the ARBA’s Standard of Perfection with the goal of preserving and protecting these rare breeds. Both breeds are heritage breeds and on the Livestock Conservancy List. We are proud members of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, the National Silver Fox Rabbit Club, the Great Lakes Sliver Fox Club, and the Creme d’Argent Rabbit Federation.

On our petite farm, you will also find a small handful of ducks. We raise Ancona ducks which are also a heritage breed located on the Livestock Conservancy List. We breed towards the proposed SOP for Anconas, which are not currently accepted by the American Poultry Association, but are excited to hopefully see them be an APA-recognized breed in the near future. We are current members of the American Poultry Association. At one time we did keep a Cayuga flock but have since began focussing only on the Anconas due to limited breeding pen space and only have a single Cayuga hen.

While we do not currently breed them, we do occasionally have chickens for fun and egg production. We often have Silkies, Marans, and Legbars.

Our children have joined their first year of 4H and we are incredibly excited for them to work on and show off their projects!

LOOKING FORWARD

We strive to demonstrate that you can work to be self-sufficient no matter your circumstances- whether that is keeping a garden on your balcony in the city, growing a few herbs on your kitchen counter, putting up and preserving abundant sale foods from the market, or running a full-blown farm! Our humble farm is small but it is full of love. We are continuously working to improve this property even though we pray to someday find our forever property and can grow in a place where we can stretch our wings a bit more. We hope that these improvements may be used by the future property owners to be able to also take a small step towards learning some of the old skills that will only remain if passed on from generation to generation!
